Accadde oggi 12 Aprile Milan – Nel 2005, il Milan gioca il ritorno dei quarti di finale di Champions League contro l’Inter. All’andata, i rossoneri si aggiudicarono il match con il risultato di 2-0. La squadra di Carlo Ancelotti guidava la partita con il risultato di 1-0 quando poi la partita viene sospesa a causa dei lanci dei fumogeni dal settore interista. Partita vinta a tavolino da parte dei rossoneri e approdo alle semifinali.

La partita inizia con la solita verve da Derby. L’Inter ha bisogno di recuperare lo svantaggio iniziale ma anche il Milan vuole chiudere la pratica al più presto. Partita già abbastanza nervosa in campo con qualche schermaglia di troppo tra i vari giocatori. Poi, l’Inter si catapulta in avanti ma il Milan contiene molto bene. Al 30′ minuto, però, Andriy Shevcenko trova un gol splendido: tiro da fuori aerea, con il sinistro a giro, dove Francesco Toldo non può mai arrivare. L’inter sembra tramortita ma si riprende un poco alla volta. Il primo tempo si conclude con il vantaggio dei rossoneri.

Poi la vergogna: l’arbitro Merk al 71′ annulla un gol di Esteban Cambiasso. I tifosi interisti non la prendono bene e fanno piovere dagli spalti prima le bottigliette e poi dei razzi. Uno di quest’ultimi, colpirà anche il povero Dida. A questo punto, il fischietto tedesco deve per forza sospendere il match. Il verdetto UEFA sarà spietato: partita vinta 3-0 a tavolino dai rossoneri e pesanti squalifiche ai nerazzurri.

Il Diavolo arriverà in finale di Champions dove però si consuma la tragedia sportiva di Istanbul contro il Liverpool. La beffa arriverà anche in campionato con il Milan che arriverà dietro la Juventus. In Coppa Italia è l’Udinese a fare fuori la squadra di Ancelotti. L’unica coppa che riesce a mettere in bacheca, nel suddetto anno, è la Supercoppa Italiana vinta contro la Lazio. Il miglior marcatore della stagione risulta sempre Shevchenko con 26 gol totali.
